I'm adjusting the topic schedules and timing for the beekeeping workshop this weekend due to the experience levels of the attendees I've had register so far; just a few little tweaks. Here is the new topic schedule:
*Friday 6:30-9:00: -Beekeeping Essentials (What's what, & how to get what to do what where
*Saturday 9:00-5:00: -Parasites, Pests, & Diseases (All the bad stuff about beekeeping...) -Swarms (Collecting & Trapping) -Self-Sustaining Apiary (Making bees & minimizing swarms) -Small Cell & Foundationless (Big drones & small workers) -Honey (Liquid & comb honey production) **(Beekeeping Essentials will be gone over again for anyone not being able to make the Friday night class, and that would like to stay late to go over the material (Assuming I still have a voice at that point) after the regular schedule is completed Saturday.
*Sunday 1:00-2:30: (open to the public) -Beekeeping Woodenware (Getting your first equipment running) -Bee Supply Catalogs (Sorting out the confusion between the pages)
** 2:30-6:00? (open to the public) -Bee Swap Sale (There will be a local beekeeping supplier there with products and information to look at. There will also be supplies there to order or buy, some used equipment for sale, and maybe some other bee craft related items for sale as well.
Cost to Attend: (one-time fee covers the entire weekend, 16 years and over, under 16 years is free)
$20.00 / person – Advanced Registration
$30.00 / person – Day of Event Registration
Seating is limited, registering in advance to reserve your seat is highly recommended, no guarantee that seats will be available at time of same day registration.
*To Inquire about becoming a vendor at the bee swap sale contact Michael in advance to reserve a spot (limited inside space if weather outside is not cooperating). There is no cost to set up and sell ANY beekeeping products you might have (new, used, homemade, etc.) as long as it is bee related. You can also take bee orders if you are planning on selling nucs, hives, or packages of bees this spring as well.
